...all my devotion...
Once again, time has slipped away since my last blog post. Days have begun to blur together recently, as the end of the year approaches for Peachtree. Songs are being learned, a script is being written, all that has been taught and received in the last two semesters is almost ready to culminate in an end-of-year program and performance. The process...and laboring...will produce a product. It's beautiful, really.
This year has taught me much...and I thought I was the teacher. So funny, the notion that any of us are really teachers. We are all the taught, we are all the learning, we are all the growing. Standing in front of a classroom of children, something comes out of one of their mouths and a revelation of the Kingdom that I've never heard before breaks my heart with its reality. Once again I realize how much I have left to learn, and because of this I love the title of "teacher". I love the daily opportunity to be taught.
I've been teaching myself some new piano music lately. In the midst of working with my piano students I get anxious for a new challenge myself. My co-teacher and friend, Joni, recently introduced me to the music of modern composer Philip Wesley. His compositions are beauty and delight written on a grand staff, in my opinion. I don't know if he is a lover of Jesus, but his music would certainly make me think so. I've been working on Light & Shadow, a sweet piece with several time changes and plenty of 16th notes - my favorites.
Our second garden on Jefferson Avenue is planted...we love tending it and watching things begin to take shape. Dan's job with our beloved Auto Zone is still quite stressful...but God gives more grace and unexpected time together, chances to breath. We thoroughly enjoyed a camping trip with my brothers and their wives over Easter weekend...glorious glorious.
Right in the middle of all the learning, growing, schedules, and time management, He is so there. And He is so faithful. I don't want to just honor Him will my lips - I want my heart to be near to Him. (Isa 29:13, James 4:8) I pray that whatever your spring is like - be it busy, stressful, relaxed, perfect or painful - that you will agree with me that He is more than worth your time... This song has been my anthem this past week, and I hope you will sing your heart out right along with me. All my devotion belongs to this Man.
